Informatics

Recognizing that collaboration is the sharing of data, information, and knowledge between scientist, students, decision makers and the pubiic, CEV participates in a focused effort in the management of earth science information. The Informatics Working Group is composed of team members from science modeling working groups working together to design, build, and maintain an information system that facilitates the communication of data and information between people, models, visualizations, and decision support tools.

Ultimately, the Informatics project will improve collaboration within all of the university earth science community as we seek to better understand the complexity of data and information needs that support earth science research and education. Within the Informatics project, we use a combination of software and network relay solutions that simplifies all aspects of scientific data networking, allowing simple access to distributed information without reliance on centralized storage or standardized format.
