With support from the National Parks Service and the College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences, CEV developed an animation showing the formation and transport of Nitrogen Oxides in the Puget Sound Basin over a 24-hour period.

Joe Vaughan and Brian Lamb from Washington State University provided the NOx simulations using the AIRPACT Air Quality Forecasting System. The winds for the simulation came from the MM5 model run at the University of Washington Atmospheric Science Department.

Visualization work was done with Iris Explorer software using different isosurfaces to show NOx concentrations hitting Mt. Rainer. An image form this work was used on the October 2003 issue of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
